STEEL STRUCTURE – SHOULD I USE IT?

Steel can be used in a wide variety of buildings from warehouses to greenhouses to workhouses. Steel is durable and can protect your products from harsh outdoor elements.

It is widely used in industrial applications such as for warehousing or storage needs. Whether it steel framed buildings to house your inventory, steel garages to store vintage cars or metal buildings suitable for an aircraft hangar, your designer can design and supply the correct solution for your needs.

The designer can also design and make domestic steel buildings for any use. Examples are steel garages or a steel framed workshop.

It is also used in commercial units including factories, manufacturing facilities, offices, and retail units. From smaller steel commercial industrial units to large constructions, there is a solution by using steel. Steel buildings are also used widely for the leisure industry, including leisure centres, sports halls, driving ranges and swimming pools.

WHAT IS STEEL STRUCTURE?

Steel structure is a metal structure which is made of structural steel components connected with each other to carry loads and provide full rigidity. Because of the high strength grade of steel, this structure is reliable and requires less raw materials than other types of structure like concrete structure and timber structure.

APPLICATION

In modern construction, steel structures are used for almost every type of structure including heavy industrial building, high-rise building, equipment support system, infrastructure, bridge, tower, airport terminal, heavy industrial plant, pipe rack, etc.

FABRICATION

Steel Structure is steel fabricated with a specific shape and chemical composition to suit a project’s applicable specifications.

COMPONENTS: STEEL SECTIONS

Depending on each project’s applicable specifications, the steel sections might have various shapes, sizes and gauges made by hot or cold rolling, others are made by welding together flat or bent plates. Common shapes include the I-beam, HSS, Channels, Angles and Plate.

TYPICAL STEEL STRUCTURE TYPES

 Frame structures: Beams and columns

 Grids structures: latticed structure or dome

 Prestressed structures

 Truss structures: Bar or truss members

 Arch structure

 Arch bridge

 Beam bridge

 Cable-stayed bridge

 Suspension bridge

 Truss bridge: truss members

WHY IS STEEL STRUCTURE A GOOD CHOICE?

1. COST SAVINGS

Steel structure is the cost leader for most projects in materials and design. It is inexpensive to manufacture and erection, requires less maintenance than other traditional building methods.

2. CREATIVITY

Steel has a natural beauty that most architects cannot wait to take advantage of. Steel allows for long column-free spans, and you can have a lot of natural light if you want it in any shape of structures.

3. CONTROL AND MANAGEMENT

Steel structures is fabricated at factory and rapidly erected at construction site by skilled personnel that makes safe construction process. Industry surveys consistently demonstrate that steel structures are the optimal solution in management.

4. DURABILITY

It can withstand extreme forces or harsh weather conditions, such as strong winds, earthquakes, and hurricanes. They are also unreceptive to rust, and unlike wood frames, they are not affected by termites, bugs, mildew, mold and fungi.

FLEXIBLE DESIGNS

With a variety of framing systems, your designer can value-engineer a design to meet your specific requirements with the overall cost in mind. The designer understands that design flexibility is crucial to the success of a project. The options varied such as a standard box design or provide a completely custom prefab structure with parapet walls, attachment buildings, concrete or insulated panel.

COST EFFECTIVE

Prefabricated steel structures or prefabricated buildings can save on design, construction, and maintenance costs. The installer will bolt-together them on the job site, allowing shorter installation times that are streamlined.

HAVE A CAPABLE STEEL STRUCTURE PROVIDER TO GUIDE YOU ALONG THE WAY

If you need a large clear span industrial or commercial unit, a small home garage or workshop, you may consider steel buildings. A good project team should be able to assist you from start to finish. From the very first contact, right through the design, quotation, plan and build stages of your steel frame building, they will walk you through each and every step, answer all your questions and guide you through to the finished product.
