STRUCTURAL STEEL WAREHOUSE FOR A BEVERAGE FACTORY

This steel portal framed building was built for a beverage company. The original building had undergone several extensions.
The dimensions are 152m x 29m and is 8m high. All trims are in PVC coated galvanised steel. There is a dividing partition across the building with posts, side rails and single skin cladding on one side.

Ventilation at the bottom of the walls gives a good chimney effect for efficient ventilation throughout the building, keeping both the workers and the produce cool in a hot climate.

Scope: Design & Engineering for Steel Building, Space Frames, Portable Cabins, Tubular Steel Structures, basic building elements (built-up welded H-section, hot-rolled H-section, channel, steel column, steel beam), standard frames, secondary framing, roof and wall materials, sandwich panels. Also, fabrication and erection services.

FORWARD THINKING DESIGN FEATURES
Careful consideration had to be made to ensure that the staircase and the floor configuration and design maximised the usable height and floor space on both storeys. We also needed to ensure that good access was maintained for it to seamlessly link their manufacturing processes through into the new space.
To minimise the requirement for any intrusive support columns on the ground floor, the mezzanine structure was supported off the main portal steelwork.

ATTENTION TO DETAIL
As a wraparound extension, the initial setting out and junction details were key to making the project a success and to ensure that the new structure blended in with the existing. Paying specific attention to the roof profile and introduction of a bespoke valley gutter.
The building is equipped with insulated cladding on both the roof and walls, providing a stable internal environment, allowing flexibility of use, and guarding against condensation.
The skylights flood the workshop with plenty of natural light but also ensure they have plenty of usable wall space inside the factory. We supplied and installed a large aluminium window in the end gable giving the meeting room area on the mezzanine views out into the surrounding countryside.
